Water Bodies: Quick slip into Sandton

Bring towels, costumes, hats, sun- screen, a smile and your propensity for fun. This Saturday Slide Jozi is bringing a huge slip and slide to Sandton. The 300m-long water slide, which took four weeks to set up, will take up the entire length of West Street heading towards Rivonia.It can accommodate 2000 people an hour and will run from 8am to 10pm. There are two slides side by side that run all the time.Sponsored by the City of Johannesburg, the event is part of the EcoMobility World Festival currently taking place in Sandton.Danny Figueiredo, marketing director of Spiced Productions, said the slip and slide was planned two years ago as part of EcoMobility month."Park and ride facilities will allow for patrons to walk or commute to the venue and experience the city in a completely safe and pleasant environment," he said.This family fun day will cater to everyone, with a beer garden and a food court, where you can chill and enjoy some great tunes."We have a complete beer garden, food court, Superdry clothing container and music stage with artists like TiMO ODV, HouseHold Funk, Sisco Umlambo, Apollo, Shorty on SAX, Kyle Cassim, Mark Stent, Vin Groovin, DJ JC and Felix Brendel," he said.The event is strictly for persons over five and food, cooler boxers, umbrellas and water pistols are not allowed.Sliding times will be broken down into four slots, allowing people to the pick the time slot they would like and buy tickets accordingly.Tickets will also be on sale for unlimited slides throughout the day and there will be spectator tickets on sale for the few who prefer not to brave it.Prices differ, from early bird tickets at R125 a person, which are sold out; phase 1, which are R195 a person and are close to being sold out, and final phase tickets, which are R255 a person.For more details go to www.slidejozi.co.za..
