Rampant Kaizer Chiefs trounce Golden Arrows

A Kaizer Chiefs side on the rebound eased past tricky Lamontville Golden Arrows 3-1 in an Absa Premiership match at FNB Stadium last night. George Lebese scored from the penalty spot in the sixth minute and put Chiefs 2-0 ahead with a second goal in the 23rd minute.Arrows' Siyabonga Dube pulled one back with a fine strike in the 51st minute moments after his team had Gladwin Shitolo sent off.Bernard Parker made the game safe for Chiefs in the 78th.Amakhosi's victory follows their 3-1 league humbling by Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby on Saturday and comes three days before Saturday's Telkom Knockout semifinal between the two giants.Negotiating the fine line of rotation between the two derbies, Chiefs coach Steve Komphela rested four first-team players - Siboniso Gaxa, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Camaldine Abraw - and gave starts to Kgotso Moleko, PuleEkstein, Lucky Baloyi and Parker.Arrows did not want to concede early against a Chiefs team on the rebound from defeat, but they did.Edward Manqele's lack of confidence in front of goal showed as he wasted options with hesitant decision-making. He was replaced by Siphelele Mthembu in the 69th minute.Polokwane City achieved their second win of the season after overcoming Maritzburg United 3-2 at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg last night. The teams were at 2-2 when City's Puleng Tlolane scored the winner in the 90th minute.United were the first to draw blood when Mohammed Anas scored in the second minute. The lead was cancelled when Thibani Mncwango scored soon after.The Maritzburg side went ahead with a Kurt Lentjies strike in the 83rd minute only for Jabulani Maluleke to equalise three minutes later.Mpumalanga Black Aces shot to the second spot on the log - behind Platinum Stars on goal difference - after beating Jomo Cosmos 3-1 at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit last night.Aces' goals were scored by Lebogang Manyama, Collins Mbesuma and Judas Mosemaedi.
