Cut the talk and walk the walk, says Gordhan

Pravin Gordhan, minister of cooperative governance and traditional affairs, has called on the government to be proactive in planing and implementing its policies. He said the time for talk and countless strategic documents was over and that action was now needed."South Africa is becoming famous for developing plans and policies and all sorts of document, that begin to have very little impact on the ground at the end of the day," the minister said.Gordhan was speaking at a spatial planning summit at the Sandton Convention Centre yesterday.The minister stressed the importance of spatial planning and the implementation of plans that will address the apartheid legacy and reverse urban sprawls.Gauteng , the first in line to restructure its spatial patterns, has been battling to keep up with the increasing number of people flocking to the economic hub every year in search of better opportunities.Addressing delegates, Gauteng premier David Makhura said the province was battling to induct the growing number of people migrating to the province. ..
