Gown Lowdown: Brides can say 'I do' in the finest fashion

Khothatso Tsotetsi has already graced our catwalks with his bold designs and brightly coloured, flowing garments. Now he's ready to dress the brides. His brand Tsotetsi KL, was established in 2012 and a year later international model Alek Wek walked down the ramp in one of his designs at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa in 2013.The TKL Bridal Collection launches on Wednesday at the Rolls-Royce Sandton showroom. He says the collection will consist of six gowns which will be modelled by local celebrities.One is worn by Kelly Khumalo in her recent music video for her song Nguyelo. ''The dress is made of duchess satin, Chantilly lace with pearl beading and a neckline finished in satin. It features a raw-edged Chantilly border ," he says.The Tsotetsi KL label has been running successfully for three years. ''The brand has gained enough momentum and respect for our craft and great standards that a demand for bridal wear has developed."Tsotetsi gained great experience from catwalk king David Tlale when he worked with him on the Next Generation programme initiated by African Fashion International .The initiative aims to groom young design graduates from its Fast Track programme by mentorship.Tsotetsi KL is looking to create bridal wear as one of its key areas .Last year at the Mercedes-Benz fashion week in Johannesburg, the young designer wowed the crowd with his iN-MATE 2015 Autumn/Winter collection, which was dominated by blue velvet pieces and inspired by the 1950s song Blue Velvet.His signature bridal look features sheer fabrics like mesh, chiffon, silk and lace.Tsotetsi creates what he calls "engineered garments", which are designed to make women look attractive on their big days...
