The time has come. After months of negotiations you've finally convinced another person that getting hitched won't end in the two of you enriching some unctuous divorce lawyer a decade down the line. Congratulations, but now comes the hard part, figuring out whether you're going to wear a tuxedo or a suit, and all the details that go into making either of them look good.This is one of the few wedding decisions that your bride or best man can't make for you, but if you follow these guidelines you're guaranteed not to look like a Cuban pimp.Get an idea of what you wantIf you walk into the fitters and ask for ''the suit George Clooney once wore" there's a good chance you'll be eye-rolled out of the building.Help the staff help you by knowing beforehand whether you want a double- or single-breasted tux, what type of fabrics you like and what fit suits you.Chat to your fiancéeAs much as it's your decision there's a good chance the first fight of your marriage will happen at the wedding if you surprise her by arriving wearing something Dora the Explorer designed. Your outfits need to complement each other, which means some communication is required.Do not for any reason wear a belt with a tuxThe tuxedo gods will visit their wrath upon you. It's just not done. The same goes for non-black socks and a tie. If you want to wear a tie then wear a suit. If you're in a tux then bow tie it is.Don't wait until the last minuteIt might not be as stress-inducing as a bridal gown, but that doesn't mean you can figure it all out in the final week. Multiple fittings have to be done, alterations made and final touches added. Allow this process to unfold and you'll avoid pitching up at your big day with one sleeve longer than the other.Flatter your bodyNot all of us look like Jude Law, which means not all of us can get a suit/tux with the same cut as his. Bear that in mind when someone offers you a suit that involves making you look like a child trying on his dad's clothes.Tux or suit?The difference between a tuxedo and a suit is satin. Tuxes have satin facing on the lapels and might have satin side stripes down the trousers. A suit says you're a productive member of society. A tux says, "I would look out of place anywhere but here, but there's nowhere else I'd rather be."..
