The auditor-general's reports on the financial affairs of government have always been very clear on how money is unaccounted for. They have also been unambiguous on who exactly in the value chain is responsible for wasteful expenditure. The biggest challenge here is the lack of political will to tackle this head-on.All that is needed here is for the political principals to work hand in hand with the auditor-general to tackle a problem that threatens to tear the people's confidence in the state and do the right thing with the money that has been entrusted to them. The auditor-general and the public protector have certainly played their roles as institutions with aplomb.Let law enforcement play its part here too. ..
