A woman at the scene of the accident that killed Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere said the accused was intoxicated at the scene. Preshalin Naidoo, 24, is on trial in the Randburg Magistrate's Court for culpable homicide.Mhere and his friend, Kady-Shay O'Bryan, died when Naidoo's car collided with theirs on William Nicol Drive in Fourways, Johannesburg, on January 31.Velry Laka told the court yesterday that she and her three children were coming back from a church in Randburg on the morning of the incident. She said as she was about to take the off-ramp, "I heard a sound of a car [going at] high speed."She added: "[Naidoo's car] swerved towards our vehicle and hit the car in front of us. It flew and landed on the bonnet of our car."Laka said Naidoo came to her and apologised for the accident."I did not accept his apology because he was intoxicated."Mhere's father, Joseph, who had also been a passenger in the car, testified that Naidoo's vehicle connected with theirs on the driver's side, and the car rolled several times. In his plea explanation, Naidoo said the accident occurred as a result of "an unforeseeable mechanical defect"...
