Joburg rapper Gigi Lamayne has taken the colloquial term schoolin' to a new level by completing her undergraduate studies in media and anthropology with four distinctions. Lamayne, real name Genesis Manney, aced the subjects new media, consumer culture, anthropology of the state, and the development of anthropological boards.She graduates from Wits University this year.A self-proclaimed bookworm, she has been on the dean's list of students who pass in the top 10% of each degree programme since she began her studies at Wits in 2013.An active participant in last year's historic #FeesMustFall student movement, Lamayne said: "Finally finishing my degree is a form of my emancipation as a student who struggled to get through university because of finances."The award-winning rapper was last year signed to talent management agency Dream Team SA.Her debut album, Genesis, is due to be released later this year, which she has dubbed The Year of Lamayne...
