Black Coffee just rocks

Having conquered dance floors, DJ Black Coffee is expanding his creativity to the small screen. The award-winning deep house producer is working on an animation film that will be broadcast live later this year.Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, is scheduled to perform at Coachella, a US music festival in April. He plans to broadcast his short film during his performance.Speaking about being selected to perform at festivals such as Ultra SA and Coachella this year, he said: "It's really amazing but it took a lot of planning.I'm working on a short animation movie to present my album. The 15-minute film won't have any dialogue but I'll use my music to tell a story."Having released his latest album, Pieces of Me, in September, Black Coffee is already planning another album release in May. He said the latest album would be a de luxe version of its predecessor, with additional songs, a new title and a new cover.Today Black Coffee leaves for New York for a performance and to shoot the new album cover.Local fans can get a taste of his new music at the electronic music festival Ultra SA next month, when he performs alongside some of the world's biggest DJs such as Zedd, Tiesto, Afrojack and Skrillex. Following his international win in Ibiza for breakthrough artist of the year, he's making space in his "special cabinet" for possible Metro FM awards next month.The 39-year-old DJ was nominated for best dance album, best male album and song of the year for his hit We Dance Again.Despite this he said he did not take anything for granted and that "it's something I can't believe"."I always try not to be on any kind of momentum. My goal is never to be the man of the moment whether people catch up to what I'm doing or not.I don't really want to be under any kind of [external] pressure because it's my journey," he said...
