'Tsotsi' actress honoured in TV's '21 Icons' for career progress

Honouring local icons used to be about looking back - now it's about looking to the future. The latest series of 21 Icons - a visual celebration of the lives of men and women who have shaped the world around them for the better - has named actress and producer Terry Pheto as one of its icons. The previous two seasons featured George Bizos, Nadine Gordimer, Desmond Tutu, Albie Sachs, Hugh Masekela and Sophie Williams de Bruyn.Pheto, most commonly associated with her leading role in the 2006 Oscar-winning filmTsotsi, is one of 21 young people honoured for the progress she's made in her career. In the short film she discusses her journey to achieve her dreams and her passion for storytelling.The third season of 21 Icons is about looking towards the hope that the future offers.Some of the other icons featured in this season are performing artist Athi-Patra Ruga, athlete Caster Semenya, wheelchair tennis player Lucas Sithole, jazz musician Kyle Shepherd and co-founder of the Kliptown Youth Programme Thulani Madondo...
