Busy Nelson ready to 'do the maths'

In just over a week from now, national Under-17 captain Nelson Maluleke will sit down to write an exam he would have written last year were it not for football commitments. Having spent a lot of time away from school with the Under-17 team at two major international tournaments last year, Maluleke has been forced to write his final matric exams this month. He's quite nervous but ready to get it over and done with. The Supersport United attacking midfielder still has six exam papers to get through and his first one will be mathematics at the end of next week.Even though he is training in the morning and travelling with his club to play MultiChoice Diski Challenge matches, Maluleke says he is finding time to study."It hurt when the other guys went to get their results," the midfielder said."I wrote some papers last year, like history, tourism (his favourite subject) and english paper one, but i still have to write maths. I have to write geography, English paper two and Zulu. I go to training in the morning and I get to study later in the day."The 17-year-old, who is likely to graduate to the national Under-20 team this season, was on trial at Dutch club PEC Zwolle for three weeks last year and is hoping he can make a move abroad in the near future."Everything went well in Holland. They liked me and the accommodation was great. Their football is direct and that was a bit difficult for me. I got used to it after some time and I enjoyed it," the Secunda-born player said."It's my dream to play overseas and I hope I get the opportunity to follow my dream."..
