No clash as ANCYL fails to show up

It was supposed to be a clash of blue, red and yellow outside the Constitutional Court yesterday. In the lead-up to yesterday's Concourt hearing, the EFF, Democratic Alliance and ANC Youth League vowed to turn out in numbers at the courtBut in the end a sea of red dominated as thousands of Economic Freedom Fighters covered the court precinct as part of their #PayBackTheMoney campaign.When the mass of red berets arrived, the DA supporters and those of smaller parties dispersed.The ANCYL, despite announcing that its members would be out in defence of President Jacob Zuma, was nowhere to be seen.ANCYL national spokesman, Mlondi Mkhize initially denied this was the plan but when confronted by a recording of his pronouncements said he had made a mistake."That is quite correct, I realised afterwards that I had made a confirmation on the wrong event. I then spoke to comrades and they confirmed that they had not organised for today [yesterday], but for the State of the Nation address," said Mkhize.Police were on high alert throughout yesterday.The march was peaceful as EFF leaders called for discipline.Addressing the crowds after yesterday's hearing, EFF leader Julius Malema said Zuma must be removed from office based on the Constitutional Court hearing into spending on Nkandla, even though judgment is still awaited.He said the president had violated the constitution.On his party's #PayBackTheMoney campaign, Malema said the Special Investigating Unit had estimated over-expenditure on Nkandla at R155-million."That's what Zuma must pay and he must do so within 30 days," Malema said...
