EFF leader Julius Malema has blurred the political demarcation lines and called on all South Africans, including members of other political parties and capitalists such as Johann Rupert, to join forces with him and take to the streets to pressure President Jacob Zuma into quitting.

CONSTITUTION HANDBOOK: Julius Malema tells a media conference the EFF feels vindicated by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng's ruling that President Jacob Zuma has just over three months to pay back the money for some of the upgrades to his Nkandla homestead. Mogoeng said: 'The failure by the president to comply with remedial action taken against him by the public protector .is inconsistent with the constitution...and is invalid'

Malema, commenting on the Constitutional Court's unanimous judgment confirming the powers of the public protector and roundly criticising the conduct of Zuma and ANC MPs, said the onus was now on ordinary people to remove Zuma.

"Rupert, your call for Zuma to step down should translate into action and see the closure of business to allow workers, including yourself, to join the march to remove Zuma. it's time to go to the streets. Let unions join the march. We need combined resources - financial and human - to mobilise the necessary strength to remove Zuma."

Malema reminded the ANC of how "one high court judge managed" to get former president Thabo Mbeki recalled. He argued that yesterday's Constitutional Court judgment should be more than enough to force Zuma's recall.

"We're conducting our revolution within the confines of the constitution but, if needs be, we're not scared to engage them violently ... we want to take charge."

Malema called for early elections and for parliament to be dissolved, arguing that it undermined the constitution to protect Zuma.

"How can parliament provide an oversight of the executive and other arms of the state if it has permanently violated the constitution? Parliament must be dissolved because it has failed our people."

He said newly appointed ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu, who recently said the Nkandla matter was not handled correctly, should honour his words and act on the judgment.

"We're not suggesting anything, but just tell us what must happen, we'll follow you. This is an opportunity for Mthembu to lead us in that parliament ... the good thing about history is that it is presenting the ANC with an opportunity to self-correct," he said.

"This is an opportunity for South Africans to unite and remove Zuma from office. Without the constitution we're another failed African state."
