Sign for ANC to clean house

The Constitutional Court ruling on Nkandla has shown beyond doubt that decisive action is now imperative to solve the problems inherent in the ANC. The loss of moral authority, political paralysis and fragmentation of the movement will continue unless the ANC takes drastic steps to solve the problem swiftly and accordingly. There should be no holy cows in this process. While we must accept that President Jacob Zuma must implement to the full the remedial actions proposed by the public protector, the ANC must go further than this. A simple apology is definitely not enough on this one.The ANC parliamentary caucus also needs to do some serious soul-searching because, due to its own narrow defensive tactics, opposition parties with tarnished origins like the DA have been gifted with the opportunity to occupy the moral and political high ground in the National Assembly. While the president had legal advice at the expense of the state, it is a fact that the Nkandla matter also went through political discussions in ANC structures. We need to know what advice these structures gave to Zuma. If he did not follow such advice, we will then need to know what gave him the right to defy an ANC mandate.Lastly, the impeachment call must be rejected. We need an investigation on the Nkandla matter and if the president is guilty he must be shown the door! ..
