Rappers hip-hop to break record

The 10th edition of hip-hop festival Back To The City is expected to break the record for Africa's longest remix at the annual show at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Johannesburg on April 27. Co-founder Osmic Menoe said Great Kings rapper Reason, who has performed at the festival since its first edition, will team up with 20 other rappers to chase the record."The 10th anniversary will celebrate those who have been a part of the festival since the first one," said Menoe.Reason, real name Sizwe Moeketsi, said: "The idea is to have the longest remix of Yipikayay with 20 rappers."Yipikayay is the East Rand-raised artist's smash hit featuring Khuli Chana and AKA.Debuting in 2007, the festival has become one of the most anticipated events on the hip-hop calendar.It hosted 23,000 hip-hop lovers last year.This year's festival has been themed Family Reunion .Menoe said: "The idea behind #FamilyReunion is that we have experienced a lot of trials and tribulations in the industry. We have had a lot of deaths of artists, from rappers to graffiti artists in our industry."He said the country's hip-hop culture was reminiscent of a family structure.Back To The City takes place on Freedom day April 27...
