Political parties will get a bigger slice of cake this financial year after the Independent Electoral Commission increased annual party funds by an inflation-adjusted 5%.

Fifteen parties listed under the IEC will share R133.7-million in this year's party funding, an increase of about R5.9-million from the previous financial year.

The ANC was allocated the largest portion, receiving R79.4-million compared with R75.6-million in the previous financial year.

The DA was allocated R28.9-million, an increase of R1.3-million. The EFF received R10.8-million. The PAC and African People's Convention received the lowest amount of R144996.

The funds will be dispensed on a quarterly basis - this month, July, October and in January.
