Chiefs' mojo rising

Kaizer Chiefs could not have chosen a better time to get back to their winning ways.Ahead of their clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium tomorrow (8.15pm), Ama-khosi ended a barren run that had gone on since February when they beat University of Pretoria 2-1 at Tuks Stadium on Wednesday night. That victory, thanks to goals by substitute Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Willard Katsande, meant a lot to coach Steve Komphela and his relief was palpable when he faced the media after the clash. The win should inspire confidence in his players as they move into third place after being stuck in fourth for a while."We are just happy we did not draw. We will take the three points and move on," said Komphela."We were not winning matches; but that's football. Inasmuch as we were not winning these games and were having to settle for draws - which we hate - we were playing quite well. But it becomes more of an insult when you say you are performing but are not getting the three points."Amakhosi face a Sundowns side struggling to get over the finish line, with a lead at the top that has been reduced to just four points with four matches to go.Chiefs could make things even more interesting in the title race between Sundowns and Bidvest Wits if they beat Pitso Mosimane's men and the Clever Boys get three points against Chippa United tomorrow."Whether Sundowns have lost 20 matches or 15 matches, their quality remains the same. We will move into the game with the full understanding that their quality is still the same and their ambitions are still the same. We have to go there and fight our own cause," said Komphela."This win against Tuks gave the players confidence. The feedback I got from [Bernard] Parker after the game tells you confidence is back."He came to me after the game and said: 'Coach, I feel comfortable.' I am happy it happened this way."A key player heading into the match against Sundowns is Letsholonyane. The man linked with a move away from Amakhosi came on as a substitute on Wednesday night and changed the game.He scored the equaliser and gave life to Chiefs with a goal later on through Katsande."Yeye's [Letsholonyane's] contribution is clear. Whenever he comes in he creates chances. He can get behind the defence with his running and the goal he scored was the culmination of desire. You know you will get that from Yeye."..
