The standing committee on public accounts in Gauteng will investigate why the provincial health department has failed to provide proof of R2.5-billion in revenue it claims to have earned in three years. Despite a lack of documentary evidence to prove its claims, the department insists it generated the money between 2012 and 2015.The department, in a preliminary response to the committee, explained that inadequate record keeping was due to an understaffed IT unit but said it had made submissions to "unfreeze all IT posts and appoint key people in those posts".The IT unit also has three vacant posts for directors. ..
