Cosmos implode, again

A stoic Jomo Sono vowed his club will make a swift return to top-flight football once he has rebuilt the side. Jomo Cosmos needed only a draw against fellow strugglers Maritzburg United in Potchefstroom on Saturday to stay up in the Premier Soccer League, but imploded in the final 10 minute, giving away three goals in a whirlwind capitulation."It all happened after we lost our right back," said Sono.Thato Lingwati sustained a blow to the mouth and had to be stretchered off .Said Sono: "We lost shape and bite, and let them back into the game."But Sono, who was still in his change room an hour after the finish as he took in the reality of his situation, said Cosmos would bounce back as they had so many times before.Saturday's defeat sunk the side right to the bottom of the log, a place that is all too familiar for Cosmos.All of their past four seasons in the top flight have seen them end in last place.They were 16th in 2008, 2010 and 2012, bouncing back twice in a row, but then spending two successive seasons in the National First Division, before returning to the top flight."We know how to get back," Sono said, but he admitted the side would undergo reconstruction as players would be sold off over the off-season."There is plenty of demand [for our players]," said Sono.Players like Cheslyn Jampies, Thabang Monare, Charlton Mashumba, Linda Mntambo, Frederic Nsabiyumwa and Pentjie Zulu are likely to be snapped up by other clubs...
