Mbombela back in contention for PSL promotion after win over Tuks

National First Division side Mbombela United breathed new life into their PSL promotion play-off campaign with a 1-0 victory over top-flight University of Pretoria at Tuks Stadium on Sunday. The home side hit the woodwork three times but it was United who grabbed the three points that keep their hopes alive.Mxolisi Gumede scored the only goal early as United finished with 10 men after Mxolisi Mayongo was sent off. Referee Victor Gomes awarded the visitors a penalty five minutes from time after Sibusiso Mthethwa brought Phetolo Sekome down.But Tristyn Coetsee produced an excellent save to deny United captain Victor Shongwe.AmaTuks play Highlands Park on June 11. Highlands Park and United are level at the top of the mini-league with three points each, though the latter have played a game more. AmaTuks have yet to break their duck...
