President Jacob Zuma racking up the air miles

The flames of protest were still flickering in Tshwane when President Jacob Zuma did a duck to his safe place in KwaZulu-Natal yesterday. But he was barely back home when he had to rush back to Johannesburg for "urgent matters".Zuma yesterday oversaw the launch of the Vulindlela Rural Enhanced People's Housing Process, just outside Pietermaritzburg.Zuma announced that the four-year-old project would be allocated another of R2-billion in the coming financial year to complete the construction of the houses.So far, since July 2011, 12300 of the 25,000 planned houses have been completed, at a cost of almost R2-billion.The project was "community-driven" but supporters of political parties were controversially given a stake in the project.Dezzo Construction - a company of which former IFP strongman and MP Senzo Mfayela is a director - has been responsible for much of the work in Vulindlela...
