There aren't many musicians who would rhyme Gloucester with the coffee chain Costa. But then, Ricky Gervais, or rather David Brent, is no ordinary musician.Gervais's deluded comedy creation from The Office released Life of the Road on Wednesday night, the second single from the soundtrack of his film, which goes on release next month. It's classic American rock in the same vein as Tom Petty - but sung by the cringeworthy former boss of Wernham Hogg paper company in Slough."Foot down to the floor, 70 miles an hour, but no more," sings Brent, who is a travelling salesman now as well as an aspiring rock star with band Foregone Conclusion."Wheeler-dealin', no feelin', strictly business, I'm killin' it in Widnes. Then to Gloucester, I get a Costa, hard shoulder, coffee holder."The songs have been welcomed by fans online."Can't wait for Life on the Road, this generation's Spinal Tap. Must be very proud. Congratulations," Canadian comedian Norm Macdonald tweeted. The hype around the film had already been building after the first trailer was released last month. ..
