Two young, passionate chefs are determined to change the way people eat and enjoy their food.Ipeleng Motuba and Robyne Trim don the traditional white kitchen regalia but they go beyond the traditional art of cooking and entertaining guests.Though they understand the importance of people knowing what they put into their body, the pair feel that eating should be done with purpose and a level of consciousness."People spend too much time counting calories or following the latest food fad and sometimes forget to be aware of their food."So few people actually know where their food comes from, how to take a seed and nurture it into a plant."Once we learn that, we can truly enjoy our food," said Trim.The pair, through Keep Eating - an organisation founded by Motuba - have been hosting pop-up lunches and dinners, referred to as "private food exhibitions", in private homes since early this year.Hosting the individually themed events in homes, Motuba and Trim believe, contributes to the authentic experience guests can enjoy.Both chefs are graduates of the Capsicum Culinary Studio.Motuba said the events had been well received.Makobane Wessie, of Midrand, who attended the first event, said the intimate ambience reminded him of being at his own home, although he was with people he was meeting for the first time."It is an authentic yet different experience with no over-the-top dishes ," he said.Homeowners who have attended these events, or have heard of them, are jumping at the chance to open up their home to the fast-growing movement.The setup at fashion guru Thandi Modise's Kyalami home on Saturday included a bar, a live band and even a cognac tasting before guests sank their teeth into a tasty five-course meal...
