New supermodel generation

Is the second-generation supermodel upon us already?

Flipping through the latest issue of fashion biannual Love, one might be forgiven for thinking so.Tucked among the fashion stories is a study of Kaia Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford.Kaia's startling resemblance to her mother makes her story not so much an issue of nepotism but one of professional inevitability."There's something about Cindy and Christy [Turlington] . you can't quite believe how beautiful she is," said Love's editor-in-chief, Katie Grand."Cindy is so incredibly fit. You look at her and think 'Oh, wow, that gym's really working for you, isn't it?'"You know when you look at Kaia that [modelling] is really going to work for her."How did Kaia's mum - also still a working model - feel about her daughter's ascent into the modelling elite?Grand says she got early signals that Cindy was fully on board when she offered her home as location for a shoot. But that left the editor with a quandary - finding a groomer experienced enough to respect this hospitality."All make-up artists leave a trail of cotton buds behind," she notes. "It always really bothers me."The idea of Cindy kindly lending her house and then somebody leaving a bottle of nail polish remover on a very expensive sofa ..."In the end, a solution presented itself."Much to my amusement, I get an e-mail saying 'Are you OK with Cindy doing the hair and make-up?'"To which I yelped around the office because of the lovely thought of a mother offering to make up a face no one can know more intimately."The s tyling and photography on this shoot was done by Kendall Jenner, daughter of Kris Kardashian and her former husband Bruce, now Caitlin Jenner. The last issue of Love also featured Lily Rose Depp, the daughter of mega-star Johnny Depp and his stunning former wife Vanessa Paradis. ..
