The world's first 3D-printing pop-up restaurant is due to open in London today.

And one is to appear in Cape Town in the near future.A team of gourmet chefs is taking technology to a new delicious level by using portable 3D printers to prepare meals for tech-loving customers.According to news site Digital Journal, Food Ink gives a one-of-a-kind gourmet experience by matching fine dining with art, philosophy and tomorrow's technologies.The pop-up restaurant will serve meals produced by portable 3D printers operated by chefs using their own original recipes.Customers order their meals on screens placed on their table, which send their orders to the mobile printers in the kitchen.More than 20 ingredients - anything that can be turned into an edible paste - can be layered through the printers' extruders.Side dishes and garnishes will be made the old-fashioned way.The pop-up restaurant will operate until Wednesday in Shoreditch and activity will be streamed live on the Food Ink website.Food Ink plans to stage nine-course 3D-printed dinners in major cities including Cape Town, Paris, New York, Las Vegas, Sao Paolo, Tokyo, Rome, Barcelona and Sydney...
