UJ students win 'Oscar'

A team of 25 University of Johannesburg students has earned bragging rights after winning a top global award.The students won what is dubbed as the "Oscar of public relations" for their work on the local movie Hear Me Move.The Golden World Awards for Excellence is an annual event hosted by the International Public Relations Association.Under the guidance of Janine Lloyd, the winning campaign involved publicity, "dance flash mobs", social media engagement, giveaways and cinema promotions.Nthabiseng Rapuleng, who was team leader for publicity, said working on the campaign made her appreciate the processes behind turning "the big idea" into a clear, attainable plan.For Karabelo Motlotlo, the experience "fostered a sense of confidence in my ideas".The students will attend a ceremony in Doha, Qatar, in November. ..
