Pack a full wallet if you're going to glamorous Hobie Beach

A day out at Port Elizabeth's Hobie Beach will cost you more than at any other South African beach. This is according to Travel Bird's latest beach price index, which claims that Hobie Beach is the most expensive in the country.The Dutch packaged holiday specialist calculated the cost of a day at 250 beaches around the world by adding the average costs of sunscreen, a bottle of water, a beer, ice-cream and lunch.A day out at Hobie Beach will set travellers back about R479.The study claims that the second-most expensive South African beach is Port St Johns, in Eastern Cape. KwaZulu-Natal's Ballito Beach, in KwaDukuza, is ranked third and Uvongo Beach, on the Hibiscus Coast, is fourth.According to Travel Bird, the world's most expensive beach is French Polynesia's La Plage de Maui, on Tahiti, which will cost a traveller over R800 a day to enjoy fully.Travel Bird began with a list of 900 of the world's most popular seasides and whittled it down to 250 of the best beaches in 66 countries , the travel company said.Cape Town's Camp's Bay beach, known internationally for its pristine white sand and blue tranquil waters, and Durban's ever-popular coastline, did not make it onto the list.Thompsons Holidays spokesman John Ridler was "amazed" at the results."Port Elizabeth and Port St Johns?
