How to get 'tie-d' up with Trevor Noah

18 August 2016 - 08:42 By GABI MBELE

It will cost a pretty penny to get near The Daily Show host Trevor Noah now that he has gone international. But there is a way to get a piece of the 32-year-old comic - Comedy Central Cares will on Thursday next week auction the grey designer tie that Noah wore on his debut on the US TV show in September. The tie and other items will be auctioned as part of the charity fund-raising comedy show, headlined by Joey Rasdien, Skhumba, Snooze, Eugene Khoza and Donovan, Jason and Nicholas Goliath at the Goliath Comedy Club, in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.Entrance is R500 and there is room for only 160 guests.Co-owner of the club Jason Goliath said: "If people are willing to cough up R2000 for an international act, they sure can pay R500 for charity. It's a bargain for the lineup we have in store and it goes for three hours - you can have a good laugh and still raise money for a good cause."Other goods on auction include an hour in the studio with Darren Simpson and the gang from 94.7's Breakfast Express, a signed photo of Lionel Messi, four nights' accommodation for two people at the Tau private game reserve, a custom-made Marianne Fassler dress, and a corporate gig by Goliath and Goliath.Said Comedy Central Africa vice-president Evert van der Veer: "Our first benefit was well received and we look forward to generating more money that will help Rockstart and Orange Babies achieve their goals.""The tie is a grey Tiger of Sweden tie. What makes it so valuable is that Trevor wore the tie on his first day - at the first episode taping of The Daily Show. After the show he signed the tie, at the desk on set," said Comedy Central Africa vice-president Evert van der Veer.Tickets are available from Ticketpro...
