'We must deal with factionalism'

The ANC in Limpopo intends to investigate how factionalism in the party affected the outcome of the local government elections in the province. ANC provincial secretary Nocks Seabi said at a media briefing in Polokwane yesterday that an understanding of the consequences of factionalism was needed.The party maintains that it continues to have overwhelming support in the province despite losing mayoral and council seats in two municipalities this week.The DA unseated the ANC in the newly merged Modimolle-Mookgophong municipality, and the Thabazimbi Residents Association won the mayoralty in Thabazimbi on Wednesday."We have to ask ourselves to what extent the issue of factions is affecting us. Factions must not lead to the demise of the ANC," he said.The Limpopo executive committee of the ANC is expected to convene within the next few days to discuss the outcome of the elections and damage limitation...
