A course in fun at music academy

Do you know your party ABCs? The answer will read something like "AND Club, Bassline and Carfaxx". As about 60 artists prepare to perform at Jozi's top music venues, it is going to be a massive party when the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender makes its debut this weekend.Venues such as Bassline, AND Club, Kitcheners, Carfaxx, Great Dane, Zone 6 and 1 Fox will see artists from across the world performing. The four-day festival will host parties, concerts, seminars and workshops with industry experts and pioneers.Local artists said an important topic these sessions should address ''is the business of music".Similar events have taken place in cities such as Vienna, Tokyo, Warsaw, Stockholm, Belfast and Sydney since 1998.At this weekend's event DJs Black Coffee and Culoe de Song will speak at the seminars.Rapper Stilo Magolide, who will also be performing, said: "The business of music needs to be taught so that artists understand things such as recording and getting your music to the people."Other artists on the lineup include Oskido, Niskerone vs Hyphen, Shimza, Christian Tiger School, Heavy K, Riky Rick, AKA, Vinny da Vinci, Moonchild Sanelly, Das Capital, Sketchy Bongo and Aewon Wolf, Kid-X and Patoranking. ..
