Boks' return not the only problem for Lions

Reincorporating returning internationals ahead of a knock-out match can be a tricky affair but the Golden Lions may have to consider questions wider than just the team's equilibrium. They have been spared having to welcome back Springboks Warren Whiteley, Elton Jantjies, Jaco Kriel, Lionel Mapoe and Franco Mostert, who have all joined their Japanese clubs, but they have to reabsorb Faf de Klerk, Julian Redelinghuys and Malcolm Marx into their fold before Saturday's Currie Cup semifinal against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. Redelinghuys and Marx have helped Johan Ackermann's team reach the semifinal but in what mental state they are following the mauling the Springboks received at the hands of the All Blacks is anybody's guess.Already coach Johan Ackermann is in the throes of plugging the gaps left by injury. Centre Howard Mnisi (knee), wing Courtnall Skosan (groin), prop Dylan Smith (shoulder surgery) and lock MB Lusaseni (finger) are all convalescing.The Lions are still hoping to have lock Lourens Erasmus, wing Sylvian Mahuza and lock Andries Ferreira fit for the game. Ferreira only resumed training yesterday.Ackermann will have his work cut out to forge his team into a cohesive unit this week. The defending champions' form in the early stages of the competition was patchy but they delivered a surge to get into the semis at the expense of the Sharks...
