Bring it on, SA choreographer Rudi Smit tells Hollywood

US pop sensation Meghan Trainor gave his YouTube dance video - performed to her hit song Me Too - her stamp of approval. Now Hollywood is embracing the talent of South African dancer and choreographer Rudi Smit in its latest instalment of cheerleading movie franchise, Bring It On.Smit, 23, had choreographed and performed on another hit dance film, Honey 3, which featured Jessica Alba in the original movie.He has now landed the role of assistant choreographer in Bring It On 6, currently being filmed in Cape Town.The Bring It On franchise catapulted the careers of actresses Gabrielle Union, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Bradford.While Smit is well-known in dance circles, it was his Me Too YouTube video - which he choreographed and co-directed, and which received more than 800,000 views - that gave Smit worldwide recognition.Trainor praised the video on Twitter, saying it was "wow wow wow unbelievable".Smit, of Durbanville, got the Bring It On 6 gig after working with its supervising choreographer Louisa Talbot on Honey 3."She recommended me for the movie. From there I was approved by the production company to come on board," said Smit.But he can barely contain his excitement. "It feels surreal. I would never have guessed when I was a kid that years later I would be working on sequels to these two films," he said...
