Soul star Lira has landed a collaboration with Disney Africa on the soundtrack for the hit movie 'Moana'. Her version of 'How Far I'll Go' will feature in the South African version of the movie that opens on Friday. "This is certainly one of the highlights of my year; it's a nice feather in the cap. I'm really thrilled to be associated with Disney in this way; it's a fantastic song and, in terms of my values, the song fits," Lira said.Moana is an animation about an adventurous teenager inspired to leave her island on a journey to save her people. She convinces the demigod Maui to join her, and together they face monsters to fulfil her quest against all odds."I saw the inspiring side of Moana, where she discovers the connection to the ocean - you always have something that calls you towards what you are and who you are," said Lira."My whole journey has been about following what I think I'm meant to do on this planet, which is what my music is about."The platinum-selling singer and coach for The Voice SA is busy with the second season of M-Net's reality competition. It has been a busy year for Lira, who released her sixth studio album, Born Free, in April. Her reality series, Lira: Dream Chaser, debuted on DStv and has been renewed for a second season. Global cosmetic brand Bobbi Brown appointed her as its first South African influencer, and Johnnie Walker chose her as its campaign ambassador."There was a time I used to think: 'What am I going to do, I've done it all' and then something else would appear that I never thought I'd have the opportunity to do. This year has been filled with that. I've been doing a lot of different and exciting things," said Lira.Lira's version of How Far I'll Go will be available on iTunes from Friday next week. Moanaearned the second-highest US ticket sales of all time, for a movie released on Thanksgiving weekend...
