Finding a director of cricket is one of the key recommendations that came out of Cricket SA's long-awaited National Team Review.

The role of director of cricket will be to oversee the performance of the national team, Proteas, and also be accountable on all performance issues relating to the junior national teams and the franchise teams.

The recommendations were received by Cricket SA's board in a special meeting held on January 6 with the National Team Review which consisted of, among others, former Springbok captain Francois Pienaar and former Proteas opener Adam Bacher.

Another key recommendation was that the convenor of selectors vacancy, currently filled by Linda Zondi, be made a permanent post.

The other recommendations are:

Build a common and shared purpose that all stakeholders subscribe to in order to address the issues that led to the erosion of the culture within the Proteas team;

Formulate and execute a strategy to minimise or stop the loss of "players of national interest" in our setup;

Make sure that the role of the SA A team and high-performance centres are contributing to the sustained success of the Proteas;

Develop coaches who have the role of improving the pipeline of players to the Proteas and consider the option of contracting franchise coaches to Cricket SA; and

Create an environment where former players feel included and can be used as a resource to share skills and experiences.

Cricket SA president Chris Nenzani said they will review all their options before going ahead with the implementation of the review .
