All round, the selectors and coach have faith

South Africa's recent drought may have affected a lot of things, but not the production line of all-rounders.

And the national coach and selectors understand their vital role, having named all of the current crop with international experience for the Champions Trophy tournament in England.

From a death-bowling perspective, Phehlukwayo has proved he is the real deal at domestic and international level, while Chris Morris has improved in leaps and bounds in that area during the IPL in India.

Phehlukwayo's imperfect but nerveless batting has won games for South Africa and his age allows time to smooth the rough edges.

Pretorius is probably the best batsman of the lot and the steadier bowler to keep things tight in the middle overs.

The Lions have used him effectively as a middle-order pulveriser but at first-class level he has shown he can build an innings.

This is a crucial quality in early- season England when conditions are difficult at first and the toss can often decide the outcome.
