In Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, Namibia.

I learnt to ride the manual quad bike and fluttered up and down dunes like a butterfly.
Your favourite city abroad and why?
New York has a pulse I'm in love with: energetic and fast.
What must a first-time visitor see there?
Take the boat to Staten Island and see how beautiful the city looks when the sun sets, like sparkling jewels.
What should they not bother with?
The Statue of Liberty. It's too touristy and such an anti-climax.
What was your best holiday ever?
Ten days in Miami. The weather was amazing, the beaches fantastic, the shopping splendid. I bumped into PDiddy.
What was your worst holiday ever?
Christmas 2010. I stayed in Jo'burg and sulked.
What is the best thing you have been given on holiday . or pinched from a hotel?
I was proposed to on holiday once. There was no ring so I thought the guy was joking. I n retrospect, that could have been the most precious holiday moment if I had realised he was serious .
Who would be your fantasy holiday companion and why?
Matthew McConaughey. He looks like he can rough it - fish, pitch a tent and make a braai. The looks are a bonus.
Your favourite SA destination and why?
Simonstown. I've loved it since I was little - the history, the ships, the dog that made it into the navy, and the quirky little stores.
One place you want to see before you die?
Morocco.
Have you had any embarrassing moments as a traveller?
In New York City, I was crossing the road and a policeman's siren went off. He said: "Hey, lady in the blue! Have a nice day!" I went bright red.
One travel destination you would call "never again"?
My house in December.
