A home owner has learnt the perils of playing host to holiday-makers when he returned to his posh Chelsea apartment to find an X-rated soiree being played out in his living room, according to reports.

According to the New York Post, David Carter, who rented the apartment from Teman using the website Airbnb.com, had said that it would be used for him and his family who were in town for a wedding. Teman said he left his keys with Carter on Friday evening and went to dinner but returned later that evening to pick up his luggage.

On his return he was shocked to find that a rowdy sex party featuring “big beautiful women” was in the process of being shut down.

Carter had rented his apartment out for the weekend via the vacation service airbnb, which allows people to rent out their unused space online.

“This was just so bizarre,” said Teman. “The worst part of the internet was in my apartment.”

Carter claimed he was having a quiet get-together and that Teman was overreacting. He said, “I had six people, friends and family, he is making a big to-do because he is being evicted.”

Teman said that Carter had a verified Airbnb account with positive reviews which is why he approved the deal. But when he later searched Carter’s number on the internet he found an advert for an orgy involving plus-size women.

The party was even publicised on Twitter as a "XXX FREAK FEST" the Huffington Post reported.

Gawker reported that Teman was now in discussion with his landlord over the future of the apartment. It also said that Airbnb had responded quickly to the situation and had sent a locksmith to change the locks in Teman’s apartment within 24 hours. They had also made plans to put him up in a hotel for a week.
