I support #FeesMustFall because I only have Grade 12, says Siv Ngesi
Outspoken comedian and TV personality Siv Ngesi has given his support to student protestors across the country fighting against a proposed increase in university fees.
The latest round of protests in the now popular #FeesMustFall movement rocked the nation last week, after Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande announced a capped 8% increase in university fees.
And while social commentators continue to debate whether the protestors are right or not, Siv Ngesi took to Twitter to share his wish that he had the money to "fix" the whole situation.
Shit I wish I had the money to fix this #FeesMustFall issue!

He explained that his support for the movement comes because he was never given the opportunity that so many of the students who are protesting now have.
I support them because I am a 30 year old man with a grade 12 because my mom couldn't afford it! https://t.co/J2mdREllLY

He also hit back at people who use the excuse of privilege, saying that it can't always be their final argument.
Siv's comments come as tension mounts at the University of Johannesburg, with students disrupting classes and the university reportedly closing their gates to all media amidst protests on the campus.Calling someone privileged can't be your finishing move all the time!

The campaign has resulted in the destruction of property at various university campuses across the country, including the burning of a UKZN residence on Monday morning.
