Germans find the straight dope on Christmas

A two-metre-high Christmas tree in a German home turned out on closer inspection to be a cannabis plant, police reports.

The plant stood in a Christmas tree holder and was decorated with fairy lights, officers in the western city of Koblenz said.

The owner said he planned to add more decorations and place presents beneath the "tree."

"All you need is love - hippies celebrate Christmas too," the police said of their unusual find. Earlier, drug squad officers had also found 150 grammes of marijuana in the man's possession.
