Florida shooter appears in court for first time

A neighborhood watch guard charged with second-degree murder in the controversial killing of a US black teen briefly appeared in a court for the first time Thursday.
The judge told George Zimmerman he had set May 29 as the date for a hearing when he will be formally read the charges in the killing of Trayvon Martin, 17, and will be allowed to apply for bail.
