The Iraqi Oil Ministry says a bomb has exploded and disabled a pipeline carrying oil products from the country's largest refinery to a northern province.

Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said Sunday that technical teams have started work to repair the 16-inch pipeline that was attacked the previous day.

Assem said that the damaged pipeline carries oil products from Beiji refinery to Ninevah province. He predicted it would be several days before the pipeline is back online.

There were no injuries in the bombing.

Pipeline bombings which were common at the height of the country's violence in 2004-2008 have dropped significantly during the past few years.
