Deborah Schoenfeld, a dental technician at a dental clinic at Fort Meade, Maryland, has been fired after being accused of “witchcraft" and "bringing demons into the office", according to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).

Michael L. “Mikey” Weinstein of the MRFF responded to Schoenfeld's treatment in a letter by asking LTC Dennis Holt, the base's Clinical Dentistry Flight Commander, "Are you and your staff quite out of your Constitutionally derelict minds?"

According to the foundation, Schoenfeld is a Hindu who has expressed an interest in Wiccan practices.

The MRFF said in a statement that this resulted in a harassment campaign.

Her taste in Indian music was also criticised for not being Christian.

She was told that practising Yoga is "satanic" and imperils her immortal soul - and that “all the soldiers who are doing meditation and yoga to help their PTSD, they are getting infected also,” according to the MRFF and the Air Force Times - which also confirmed her account with two of her colleagues.

She filed an equal opportunity report complaining about her treatment - only to then get sacked for allegedly using profanity against a co-worker.

Just who this co-worker is, is unknown as according to the MRFF "she did not have the right to know her accuser".

The foundation is calling for Schoenfeld to be allowed to resume her former position, and for the US military to recognise the law with regards to witch hunts,

"I am confident that you recognise the value of the positive changes we have made as a society regarding religious freedom since Salem, 1692. Witch hunts are now illegal, sir," Weinstein said.
