Former Ekurhuleni HR manager Xolani Nciza testified before the Madlanga commission, saying HR head Linda Gxasheka and legal head advocate Kemi Bahari allegedly received a R600k pay raise for halting disciplinary hearings against Brig Julius Mkhwanazi.

Revo Spies, retired deputy chief of the Ekurhuleni metropolitan police department, cited rampant criminality within the department as the reason for his early retirement.

The appointments were made between May 2024 and July 2024 and included directors, inspectors and superintendents, the Madlanga commission of inquiry was told.

The Madlanga commission is on break and will resume on October 13.
