DJ Sbu yet to have his day in court as blood test results are delayed

The popular DJ was caught driving drunk on his way from a birthday bash held in Westonaria, West of Johannesburg this weekend.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela, DJ Sbu Leope will not appear in court today.

Makhubela said Leope was not expected in court any time soon due to a delay in his blood test results.

"We don’t know when the tests will be done; it can be quick or it can take longer, so I can’t say when he will be appearing in court."

Leope was pulled over by Randfontein police on Saturday. He was apparently skipping red robots and driving recklessly according to a report. His Porsche was spotted at the police station with Leope passed out in a police van. He was charged and spent the weekend at Krugersdorp police station. He is now out on bail of R1500.

The City Press reports Leope was an MC at the lavish R2 million birthday bash of Reggie Nkabinde, a businessman and ANCYL leader who is expected to become the new deputy of the youth wing. Leope is said to have cautioned guests against drunk driving.

Leope has made headlines of late for illegally brandishing the South African Bureau of Standards logo on his new energy drink. He has since grounded production on the drink to comply with SABS standards.
