Amid his legal showdown with the public protector – one of many dramas playing into the big political play – South Africans want to know whether Ramaphosa is still in a position of strength to keep his government agenda on track.

But, while facing attempts to rattle his presidency, he's stuck to the party-unity line, leaving him vulnerable and that agenda very shaky.
