Zimbabwean men will be gearing up to take part for a ‘beauty’ pageant with a difference this August.

According to Bulawayo24, a Zimbabwe-based company Aerowise Entertainment, is hosting the fourth edition of the annual Mr Ugly competition.

Reports say that around 30 contestants will compete for the title of ugliest man in the country in the categories of casual, smart casual, safari and sports.

Traditionally the competition is judged by a select group of female judges but as yet this year’s panel is yet to be finalised.

In 2011, Bulawayo-based Austin Mbewe (30) fought it out among eight others in a tightly contested pageant to be crowned Mr Ugly.

Chitova Chezhira from Masvingo came second while Beitbridge-based Kudakwashe Chiramba was third.

For the first time since its inception the contest had two Mr Ugly Personalities in the form of Thomas Magwegwe and Touchmore Denyathi, both from Beitbridge.

Initially, a total of 15 men were expected to outclass each other on the ramp, but six others chickened out at the last minute.
