For the past six weeks, South Africans have been glued to their screens to support the national rugby team. And with stress levels high enough to burn calories, not only did the Boks have us summer-ready but they also made us proud with their history-defining win.

From theories on "kant" to Etzebeth’s national renaming, here are the top moments from the Springboks’ thrilling run to bringing the Web Ellis Cup back home.

A NEW ERA

This year’s World Cup was looking to set a new pace for the team as we saw some big shake-ups. While the diversity of the 2019 squad had many looking at the skills of the black players in the team, it was the coloured players who became a focal point.

Another highlight has been Eben Etzebeth’s friendship with the other Boks, including the captain of the Boks, Siya Kolisi.

THESE BOKS WERE MADE FOR KICKING

Who can forget the stress the team gave us all for their flubbed and fortune-filled conversions. Especially the spotlight it put on Manie Libbok who often struggled in comparison to Handrè Pollard who left many in awe.

THE MOTHER OF NAIL BITERS

We triumphed over heavy lockdown restrictions and quickly struggled with the fight against load-shedding. But recently our biggest battle as a nation was the Vetkoek vs Croissant War at Stade de France. The unforgettable match was one of the first to leave many on the edges of their seats and phones.

MOMENT OF GLORY

With yet another match ending with just a point difference, the Boks brought it back home and left many South Africans joyful for the win.
