Netflix brings to life yet another gripping crime drama in its latest action-packed feature, Soon Comes Night.

The six-part crime drama produced by Ochre Moving Pictures sees local heart-throb Kwenzo Ngcobo as the elusive Alex Shabane who faces off with a broken apartheid cop, Sakkie Oosthuizen (Albert Pretorius), in a gritty drama that blurs the lines between good and bad.

The fast-paced thriller is set against the tumultuous landscape of an emerging rainbow nation in the 1990s. The tale is inspired by actual events of a notorious heist legend.

Promising viewers a glimpse into an “anti-hero like no other”, showrunner Ilse van Hemert says Soon Comes Night will be full of unexpected turns.

CEO of Ochre Moving Pictures Stan Joseph shared in a recent press release that the series is aiming to capture local and international audiences with its compelling story.

“Ochre Moving Pictures is committed to investing in original African stories that can attract a worldwide audience and contribute to a sustainable South African film and television industry,” he said.

Soon Comes Night airs on Netflix on January 19 and will be available to SABC1 audiences in 2025.
