In recent social media posts, the Miss South Africa Organisation announced that none of this year's top reigning queens would represent the country at the annual Miss Supranational pageant.
The news follows the current reigning queen, Mia le Roux's decision to drop out of the Miss Universe competition in 2024 for health reasons. This makes it the first run of the pageant year in which no Miss South Africa representatives will be chasing the crown at a global contest.
“With heartfelt gratitude to our incredible fans, we share that Miss South Africa will not participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition, set for June in Poland,” the organisation announced in a statement.

South Africa has sent queens to Supranational since 2021, when the Miss SA pageant began the short-lived relationship.
Miss Supranational has considered itself as one of “the top three” global pageants which started in 2009. In its media statement, the Miss SA Organisation stated it “deeply value the memories and connections” of the event but did not clarify, at the time of this article being published, whether any of its pageant queens would return to the show in future.
This comes a year after Mr South Africa (a different organisation to Miss South Africa) saw its candidate Fezile Mkhize win the Mr Supranational crown.

While other fans of the pageant took to their comment section to show support — as Miss Supranational has stringent rules about who can enter its competition, in contrast to Miss Universe, which is far more inclusive — some have shared their disappointment at the decision so close to the date of the upcoming pageant.
Previous Miss South Africa runner-up and former Miss Supranational South Africa, Bryoni Govender, shared on the organisation's Instagram that she is “forever grateful for the impact” and praised the organisation's support on her journey.
