Traffic officers make R800 000 abalone bust in Grabouw

Western Cape provincial traffic officers apprehended a man on Wednesday as he was transporting 35 bags containing 5 213 abalones‚ valued at R800 000‚ on the N2 outside Grabouw.

The suspect was handed over and a case was opened with the South African Police Service for further investigation.

Western Cape Transport MEC Donald Grant said he commended “our dedicated traffic law enforcement officers for their work in apprehending criminals that carry out serious crimes on our roads”.
